on my way to being productive

No comments:
When I was still a corporate slave, I followed a getting things done system (or simply called GTD) using a pile of index cards. It worked well with me. I had things done on time, paid bills, even had time to meet with friends. It also go hand in hand with my budget system.

But when I stopped working, I feel that the GTD system doesn't work with me anymore. So I stopped doing it. I thought it would be easier to manage a home without one. Let's just say that I was so wrong. My management skills went haywire during my pregnancy. With my morning sickness that happened not just in the morning but all day long, I couldn't find it in myself to do anything. Then we had the baby and you all probably know what happened during those times: sleepless nights, breastfeeding and starting a new routine.

And what do you know, nothing gets done.

So for this year, I'm focusing on my personal growth. I started making a list of things to get done for the day. Nothing too drastic. It serves as my guide for the day. The idea is to know the things that I must do for the day then include it with the other things I planned to do. By the end of the day, I'll look at my list and my must-do task crossed out then I can say that I had a productive day. The trick here is to be realistic on the things that you planned to do and don't overwhelm yourself with the tasks you assigned to yourself. Then before you go to sleep, make a must-do list for the next day.

With this system, I realized that once I'm done with my must-do list and my plan-to-do list, I have a lot of time in my hand. Hopefully, one day I'll include yoga as part of my list.

making new traditions

We have a new blog!

I think it's about time I remove some clutter here. This was originally made for my crochet and other crafty experiments but real life happened (and still happening) and became a priority in my life. I'm pretty sure some of you are not interested in what's going on behind the scene. But if you do, feel free to click the banner above and visit our family blog. It is still a work in progress but it's getting there. Don't forget to leave a comment, even just to say hello or leave suggestions.

There are so many things I have to write about in this blog. Real experiments with knitting (a finished work and one wip) and a failed attempt in hand sewing. I'll have to post that in the near future. If you are a member of Ravelry, you can see my project updates there.

Who wants fish?

No comments:
I do! And by the look of things, Una does too. Having a limited vocabulary, fish is one of the few words she can pronounce properly. It's also one of her favorite foods since she can chew it easily. That is why it's no surprise that she loves watching Finding Nemo. We have that on repeat for some time now. In fact, it's currently playing to keep the little one busy.

The movie pointed out a lot of things that opened my mind as a parent. I've learned that no matter how scared I am for my child's well being I have to let her be and do what she wants. That I have to trust her ability to do things on her own and that I have to let her be independent and let her decide, no matter how simple it may be. Otherwise I will not be helping her grow as a person, I will just be molding her into someone I think she should be and not who she really is.

With this movie being memorable and educational to us as a family, I am thinking of buying the three of us fish t shirts. It will be interesting that we have cute Nemo shirts that will also serve as a reminder to take a few steps back if we are getting too protective.

The movie also has a message to diving and fishing enthusiasts. I really think that the dentist diver needs to learn some fishing tips. He knew that Nemo is too young to be taken out of the ocean and to never use flash in marine life photography.

Where were we?

2 comments:
Three years ago we spent the holiday out of town.

Three years and one week later we went back to one of my favorite place in the world.

Hello Taal! I missed you so much!

It was a spur of the moment decision but I'm glad we woke up early on New Year and finally pushed through traveling with our car. This is only the third time we used Godo for an out of town trip and thankful that we didn't encounter any problems.

How was your first day of the year?
