french toast v.01

I had some space working in my in-law's kitchen and tried making French toast for the first time.

I don't have any special spices, just eggs and milk then drizzled with maple syrup. Una loved it and so did DK but I think the parts without maple syrup are a bit bland. Not sure if I should add some salt or sugar with the eggs and milk combo. What should have been there to begin with? Powdered sugar? Cinnamon powder? Some bacon on the side will definitely be present the next time but other than that I'm at a lost in the taste department.

Do you have any suggestions on how to make it more tasty?

  1. Yes, cinnamon powder! That's my favorite spice. You can also add a bit of nutmeg, if you have it.
And of course, butter as topping, before drizzling with maple syrup ;)

  2. Thanks for the suggestion Mimi. Hmn, I suppose I could just treat them like pancakes. Why did it never occur to me to put some butter on it?

  3. I love french toast especially when paired with bacon.:-) Your french toast is definitely fine. A jam or maple syrup would be great to put with.:-)
