UP Fair 2011

1 comment:
It feels like it's quieter than it used to.

Well, it's to be expected since Wednesday's theme is about the 70s Martial Law Revolution. We didn't go inside the event place since we have U-chan with us but we stayed for a while to listen to nationalistic music.

There are still 3 days left. Don't miss this annual event to listen to good music, yummy foods and experiencing nature all in one night. Or all three nights if you plan to attend all remaining days. Our favorite band Urbandub will be playing on Saturday but DK have work scheduled by then. It's disappointing that we're going to miss their gig, again. If you don't have anything else planned on Saturday, I suggest you visit UP Fair 2011 in UP-Diliman Sunken Garden and watch and listen to Urbandub and other local acts play.

Mommy and Baby Fair 2010

1 comment:

This will be my second year celebrating Mother's Day as a mom. We didn't do much last year, I think we had a special family dinner with cakes and that's it. I'm pretty excited to go to this year's fair because we are only a couple of minutes away from Eastwood City. I just wish that we can get over our sniffles for the next few days so that we can fully enjoy the fair on the weekend. I hate getting sick during summer but with the dust and dry weather, it feels like it's meant to be. DK and Una have the sniffles too.

Any plans on Mother's Day?

Mommy and Me

2 comments:
Mommies and soon to be moms are invited to attend the free seminar on baby care by Philips Avent entitled Mommy and Me. This event is on April 17, 2010 at the level 2 Atrium, Robinsons Department Store - Galleria. If you failed to attend Joyful Parenting last March, here is your chance to meet moms and learn more about pregnancy, breastfeeding and taking care of our babies.

Admission is free but pre-registration is a must. You'll also get the chance to receive a gift pack similar to what I received from their previous seminar. Oh, and don't get me started on their raffle prizes.

To register, kindly email your name and number to avent@ljs.com.ph. or call 7139435 to 38 loc.130/134/143 and look for Jenny or Rina for more details.

Joyful Parenting, just the Food Demo

2 comments:
Since I forgot to make a blog post about Joyful Parenting event last Sunday, I will just share what I received from them.

In the bag: Avent items, CordLife information packet, and discount coupons for Avent and Goody

It's such a shame I came in late to this event, with the unexpected visitors who arrived while I was getting ready to leave for the event and Una's accident I missed all the talk about motherhood and breastfeeding. But I did arrive during the cooking demo and I love it! The food were easy to make, has lots of veggies on it and very tasty! I will definitely make time to try them for myself, especially the pesto pasta with malunggay and Cajun chicken.

I didn't expect a lot of mommies attending the event but there were many of them with their kids and some daddies too. I didn't get to take photos of the cooking demo because I was holding a sleeping Una on a sling. With the hot weather these days, it's really hard for her to get a decent nap so I took advantage of the cool AC in the mall. There were also a lot of raffle prizes, I was actually hoping for the breast pump but I was unlucky. The pregnant lady sitting beside won a breastfeeding book.

I'm really looking forward to attending next year's event. I hope by then, there will be no more accidents and I will be able to attend on time.

Cyber Boost Marikina 2010

4 comments:
I cannot believe I forgot about this event. We received an invitation to this event being as one of the few internet cafes in our area that have the permit to operate. It's actually required iCafe owners in Marikina to be a member of ICAM (or Internet Cafe Association of Marikina) before being issued a business permit. With DK doing the technical stuff in the computer shop, MIL also assigned him to be her representative in their meetings. Obviously, we forgot to attend the event and just realized when we went to the mall and saw some gay cosplayers with the closing remarks of the program. It's not a big deal event but it's nice to be there and be in the know of the latest gadget news.

iBlog's 6th Philippine Blogging Summit

1 comment:
Hello internet world! How was your Valentine's Day?

Nothing much on me, my husband and I don't actually celebrate it. But I have this childhood friend, we're both hopeless romantics but doesn't believe in Valentines's Day so we just date ourselves on that day, at least we used to. It was like a singles night for us, in my case anyway and she just didn't want to date her boyfriend.

Anyway, I'm so excited to tell you all bloggers from the Philippines about iBlog's 6th Blogging Summit. It will be on April 16-17, 2010 at the Malcolm Theater, UP College of Law, UP Diliman and registration is free. Click on the banner below for more details.

I'm excited to meet other bloggers and learn more about blogging. Yeah, despite blogging for years, I still think that I am doing it all wrong. It's about time to hone those non-existing skills of mine. My friends will be joining me on the second day, so hope to meet you there. Who will be attending?

To my blog friends/readers from US, don't forget to join my giveaway. You still have 19(?) hours to join.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

3 comments:
Contrary to Bing Crosby's song, I never once experienced a White Christmas. Sure my sister and her family are experiencing it now in Canada but for those who live in the tropics like me, we could only dream of having a snow-filled Christmas. Or in our case who live in the eastern part of the metro, we can enjoy a white Christmas by dropping by SM Marikina.

SM Marikina entertains their mall guests by showcasing The White Christmas Adventure. We were lucky the first time we went there was in the morning and there were only few people visiting the place.

Una is scared of the polar bear because of it's moving head so we didn't get a decent shot with her. But I think she's just fine with the other animals as long as she's not getting near them.

If you're near the area, visit the mall in these following dates to enjoy and feel the Christmas spirit.
  • December 23 - Christmas Caroling Cheers: Highest Praise Chorale Concert
  • December 26, 7pm - Guarrana Bossa Nova (Al Fresco area)
  • December 30 - New Year's Eve Grand Ball (Mall Area, Grand costume party for kids, culminating in the singing of “Aude Lang Syne”  and the popping of confetti to welcome the new year)
  • December 30, 4pm - A Holiday Fashion Show

TikTokRok Climate Action

1 comment:
Tik Tok Pilipinas' Climate Action in Marikina Riverbanks was fun. Together with Daddy K, BIL #1 and Una went there to watch bands play, have a souvenir in their photo booth and just be there and enjoy the night. It's nice to listen to musicians share their thoughts on how they try and make the environment cleaner. It always starts within ourselves. But despite the efforts of hosts and artists reminding them to take care of their own trash, there were still a lot of empty food containers and plastic cups everywhere. If only we can implement to not use styrofoams in take outs, it would make a huge difference.

Tik Tok Pilipinas Photo Booth, only Php 20.

There was a wall climbing activity in the area. I've been dying to try that one for years but Daddy K can't join because no one would carry Una while we're up there, maybe next time.

Up Dharma Down were playing when we arrived there. Also learned that Armi, the vocalist lived in Marikina and was also affected by Ondoy.

Weather We Like It or Not

No comments:
We really have to make a move and make a change. Let's not wait for another Ondoy or Pepeng to terrorize our lives. Next time we won't be able to evacuate. Next time we won't be able to survive. Let's not wait for a next time to fight against climate change. We need not only make a difference in our everyday lives. Now we have to stand up and speak up. Let our voices be heard and join the Climate Action on December 12, 2009 from 3 pm to 3 am in Marikina Riverbanks.

Kabuwanan sa Cubao Expo: An Artists' Fair

1 comment:
K-kun and I met up with Erick-senpai to check out An Artists' Fair in Cubao Expo. I've been wanting to visit the said area. It's just 15 minutes drive away from our place and there are really great stores that sell second-hand books, some are thrift shops, antique shops, artworks of independent artists and a fantastic Italian restaurant and some newly established food places and art spaces at the same time. Another reason why I went there is to check out new artworks made by my online friend Katrina Pallon whose works really inspire me to work hard in photography.

Above are some of Katrina's works. You can buy her intricately made paintings, masks and prints in her Multiply site.

Pallon with her band Scarlet Tears.
Pallon's mask collection on display in The Reading Room. I would love to have them all!
Finally, a crocheted doily found in an antique shop.

There are actually a lot of different creative things to be found in this Artists' Fair. Some hand-sewn bags, shirts, stuffies and a lot of accessories and jewelries. You can see more of my photos in my Flickr and Multiply page.
